Always use M-Pesa Escrow — tap "Buy with M-Pesa Escrow" on any listing. Your funds are held securely by Vendo and are only released to the seller after you confirm the item is exactly as described. Never pay a seller directly outside the platform, and never send money before inspecting or receiving the item.

Do not release escrow funds. You have a 48-hour window from the time of delivery or meetup to raise a dispute. Go to Account → Transactions, find the order, and tap "Raise Dispute". Attach photos and a clear description. Our team reviews all evidence and issues a full M-Pesa refund within 4 hours if your claim is valid.

Tap "Make an Offer" on any listing marked as Negotiable. The seller can accept, decline, or counter-offer — all within the Vendo chat. You never need to share your personal phone number to negotiate.

Look for the ✓ ID Verified badge on the seller's profile. Every verified seller has had their National ID checked against government records. You can also review their full transaction history, star rating, completed deal count, and buyer reviews — all visible before you commit to buying.

Yes — and we encourage it for high-value items. Arrange an in-person inspection via the Vendo chat. When you meet, have the seller initiate the escrow transaction through the app before the meetup so funds are ready. You release payment only once you are satisfied with the item.

🔐 Escrow & Payments

When you initiate a purchase, you pay via M-Pesa STK Push directly into Vendo's escrow account. The funds are locked — neither you nor the seller can access them. Once you confirm receipt and satisfaction, Vendo releases the funds to the seller's M-Pesa instantly. If something goes wrong, you raise a dispute and funds are returned to you.

Payment lands in the seller's M-Pesa within seconds of buyer approval — typically under 30 seconds. If the buyer does not approve or decline within 48 hours of delivery, funds are automatically released to the seller.

Vendo charges a small platform fee on completed escrow transactions. The exact fee is displayed clearly before you confirm any payment — there are no hidden charges. Failed or disputed transactions that result in a refund are not charged.

Wait 5 minutes — M-Pesa confirmation can be delayed on the Safaricom network. If the transaction still shows as pending after 10 minutes, do not initiate a second payment. Open Live Chat immediately with your M-Pesa transaction code (e.g. QKA1234XYZ) and we will resolve it within 30 minutes.

Open your listing and tap "Boost Listing". Choose from Spotlight (top of category), Urgent Badge (red urgent tag), or Bump & Refresh (resets listing to top). Each boost is paid via M-Pesa and activates instantly. Boosted listings receive up to 10× more views.

Sellers are fully protected against fraudulent claims. Our AI Arbiter reviews your original listing photos, the Vendo chat history, delivery confirmation, and transaction records. If the dispute is found invalid, funds are released to you immediately and the buyer's account is flagged. Repeat fraudulent disputes result in buyer suspension.

Vendo offers three seller tiers — Starter (free), Pro, and Enterprise. Higher tiers unlock more active listings, priority customer support, advanced analytics, Vendo Shop storefront access, and lower escrow fees. Tap "Upgrade" in your account to view current pricing and features.

Tap "Forgot Access" on the login screen. Enter the phone number registered to your account and you'll receive an OTP via SMS within 60 seconds. Enter the OTP to reset your access. If you no longer have access to that phone number, contact support with your National ID for manual verification.

Go to Account → Settings → Edit Profile to update your display name, location, and bio. Phone number changes require identity re-verification for security. Contact support via Live Chat to initiate a phone number change.

Tap the "Report" button (flag icon) on any listing or user profile. Select the reason — scam, fraud, counterfeit, prohibited item, etc. — and submit. Our trust and safety team reviews all reports within 2 hours. For urgent scam reports, use Live Chat directly.

1. Definitions

In these Terms and Conditions the following definitions apply:

"Platform" — the Vendo Kenya website at vendo.co.ke and any associated digital services operated by Vendora Technologies.
"Vendo", "we", "us" — Vendora Technologies, a company registered under the laws of Kenya, operating the Vendo marketplace.
"User", "you" — any individual or entity accessing or using the Platform, whether as a buyer, seller, or visitor.
"Seller" — a registered User who lists goods or services for sale on the Platform.
"Buyer" — a registered User who purchases or enquires about goods or services listed on the Platform.
"Listing" — any advertisement, product description, or service offering published on the Platform by a Seller.
"Escrow Service" — the M-Pesa-based payment holding and release mechanism operated by Vendo to facilitate secure transactions.
"Boost" — a paid promotional service that increases the visibility of a Seller's Listing on the Platform.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing, registering on, or using the Platform in any capacity, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be legally bound by these Terms and Conditions together with our Privacy Policy and any other policies published on the Platform. If you do not agree, you must cease use of the Platform immediately. Continued use after any amendment constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

You must be at least eighteen (18) years of age and a resident or citizen of Kenya to create a registered account on the Platform.

3. Account Registration & Verification

3.1 Registration: To list items or access full Platform features, Users must register by providing accurate information including a valid Kenyan phone number and, for Sellers, a valid National Identity Card (ID) number.

3.2 Seller Verification: All Sellers are required to complete National ID verification before their first Listing is published. Vendo verifies submitted documents against official government records (NIIMS). Verified Sellers receive the ✓ ID Verified badge, permanently linked to their National ID and non-transferable.

3.3 Account Security: You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials. Notify Vendo immediately at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorised access. Vendo shall not be liable for losses arising from failure to secure your credentials.

3.4 Single Account Policy: Each individual may maintain only one registered account. Operating multiple accounts is grounds for permanent suspension of all associated accounts.

4. Listings & Seller Obligations

4.1 Accuracy: Sellers warrant that all information in their Listings is accurate, complete, and not misleading. Listing photos must represent the actual item being sold. Vendo reserves the right to remove Listings found to be inaccurate without prior notice.

4.2 Prohibited Items: The following are strictly prohibited on the Platform: stolen or unlawfully obtained goods; counterfeit or intellectual property-infringing goods; firearms, weapons, and ammunition; illegal narcotics and controlled substances; alcohol and tobacco products; endangered wildlife and wildlife products; human organs or biological material; and any item or service whose listing would constitute an offence under Kenyan law.

4.3 Pricing: All prices must be listed in Kenya Shillings (KSh). Sellers are prohibited from listing items with the intention of collecting payment and failing to deliver.

4.4 Listing Duration: Standard Listings remain active for thirty (30) days from publication. Boosted Listings are active for the duration of the applicable Boost package.

5. Escrow Service

5.1 Mechanism: Vendo operates an M-Pesa escrow service to facilitate secure transactions. When a Buyer initiates an escrow payment, funds are collected via M-Pesa STK Push and held by Vendo on behalf of the Buyer until the transaction is completed or a dispute is resolved.

5.2 Release of Funds: Escrow funds are released to the Seller only upon: (a) the Buyer's express approval through the Platform; (b) expiry of the forty-eight (48) hour dispute window without a dispute being raised; or (c) a dispute resolution outcome in favour of the Seller.

5.3 Dispute Window: Buyers may raise a dispute within forty-eight (48) hours of delivery or the agreed meetup date. Disputes raised outside this window are not eligible for a refund under the Escrow Service.

5.4 Escrow Commission: Vendo charges an escrow commission of 2.5% of the transaction value, deducted from the Seller's disbursement upon successful completion. No commission is charged on disputed or refunded transactions.

5.5 Limitation: Vendo's Escrow Service does not apply to transactions conducted outside the Platform. Vendo accepts no liability for transactions where payment was made directly between parties without using the Escrow Service.

6. Boost Services

Boost packages are paid promotional services offered on a per-listing basis. All Boost fees are payable in advance and are non-refundable except where Vendo fails to deliver the promised minimum reach, in which case a Boost credit equivalent to the shortfall will be issued to the Seller's account. Vendo provides real-time analytics for all active Boost packages, including views, clicks, and WhatsApp engagement metrics, updated daily.

7. Reviews & Ratings

Reviews on the Platform are permanently linked to the reviewer's verified National ID. Reviews may not be edited or deleted by either party after submission. Vendo reserves the right to remove reviews that violate community standards or are determined to be fraudulent. Sellers who attempt to manipulate their ratings will be subject to immediate account suspension.

8. Intellectual Property

All content on the Platform — including the Vendo name, logo, design, text, graphics, and software — is the exclusive intellectual property of Vendo Kenya Ltd and is protected under applicable Kenyan and international intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any Platform content without Vendo's prior written consent.

9. Limitation of Liability

9.1 Vendo operates as a marketplace intermediary and does not itself buy or sell goods or services. Vendo does not warrant the quality, safety, legality, or accuracy of any Listing, nor the ability of Sellers to sell or Buyers to pay.

9.2 To the fullest extent permitted by law, Vendo's aggregate liability to any User shall not exceed the greater of: (a) total escrow fees paid by that User in the preceding three (3) months; or (b) Kenya Shillings Five Thousand (KSh 5,000).

9.3 Vendo shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill.

10. Suspension & Termination

Vendo reserves the right to suspend or permanently terminate any User account that violates these Terms, engages in fraudulent activity, or poses a risk to the integrity of the Platform. Suspended accounts may appeal by contacting [email protected] within fourteen (14) days of suspension. Permanent terminations based on verified fraud are final and non-appealable.

11. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed exclusively by the laws of the Republic of Kenya. Any dispute arising from or related to the Platform shall first be referred to Vendo's internal dispute resolution process by contacting [email protected]. If unresolved within thirty (30) days, either party may submit the matter to the jurisdiction of the courts of Kenya.

What is a Vendo Agent?

A Vendo Agent is an independent representative who onboards sellers in their local area onto the Vendo platform. Agents assist sellers with account creation, listing setup, ID verification, and their first transaction. In return, Agents earn a commission on every completed transaction made by the sellers they onboard.

You set your own hours. You work in your own county. You are paid through M-Pesa every fortnight based on verified transactions by your sellers.

Background Review

Complete Agent Training

Receive Your Agent Code

Once training is complete, you receive a unique Agent Code. Every seller you onboard using your code is permanently linked to your account for commission tracking.

Yes. Every author on Vendo must verify their National ID before their first ebook goes live. This protects buyers from fake or stolen content, and protects you — your reviews and sales record are permanently tied to your verified identity.

When do I receive my money?

Your earnings accumulate in your Author Dashboard. You can request a payout at any time — funds land in your M-Pesa within 30 minutes. There is no minimum withdrawal amount.

What file formats are accepted?

PDF and EPUB. PDF is recommended for textbooks, revision guides, and professional documents. EPUB is better for novels and long-form fiction as it reflows text on any screen size. Max file size is 50MB.

Can I update or edit my ebook after publishing?

Yes. From your Author Dashboard, you can upload a new version of your file, update the description, and adjust the price at any time. Updates go through a 24-hour re-review before going live.

What happens if my ebook is rejected?

How to Raise a Return on Vendo

All return requests are managed inside your Vendo account. Do not contact the seller directly — use the steps below to keep your M-Pesa escrow protection active.

Vendo Reviews Within 4 Hours

Our AI Arbiter cross-checks chat history, listing photos, delivery GPS data, and transaction records. Both parties are notified of the outcome.

Refund or Escrow Release — Decided and Executed

Full refund sent to your M-Pesa within 1 hour. If physical return is required, a Vendo Express pickup is arranged — seller bears the cost.

7 Days Before Expiry — First Reminder

You receive an SMS and in-app notification with your renewal link, current plan details, and a one-tap auto-renew option. No action needed if auto-renew is on.

3 Days Before — Urgent Reminder + Expiry Banner

A yellow banner appears at the top of your dashboard. Your listings are still fully active. This is your last comfortable window to renew.

Expiry Day — 7-Day Grace Period Begins

Your plan expires but your listings remain visible for 7 days. You can still receive enquiries. New listings cannot be posted until you renew.

After Grace Period — Listings Paused

If you have not renewed after the 7-day grace period, your listings are paused (not deleted). Renew at any time to instantly reactivate all listings and restore full access.

Auto-renewal

Automatically renew 3 days before expiry via M-Pesa standing order. Cancel anytime.

How to Upgrade Your Plan

Go to Account → Seller Dashboard → Subscription tab.

Select your plan

Choose the plan that fits your selling volume. You can upgrade or downgrade at any time — changes take effect at the start of your next billing cycle.

Pay via M-Pesa

An M-Pesa STK Push is sent to your registered phone number. Enter your PIN to confirm. Your plan activates immediately.

View your current plan, billing history, and next renewal date in Account → Subscription. Cancel any time before your renewal date with no charge.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Cancel before your renewal date and you will not be charged for the next month. Your current plan benefits remain active until the end of the period already paid for.
